THE ONE WHO ALWAYS WANTED TO WALK IN THE FOREST (John Muir)

“ Celui qui voulait toujours se promener dans la forêt” | Alexis Jenni & Anton Van Herbruggen | Paulsen Jeunesse | 40pp | 24.5 x 30.4 cm

In Gold Rush America, John is a lonely young boy who, at night, once his field work is done, invents mechanical objects, makes clocks and alarm clocks, and devours books. When his future seems all mapped out, he decides that he will be free, that nature will be his life, and that he will devote his time to observing it, exploring it, and learning about it. So, he sets off with a few tea leaves and a blanket in his bundle. He crosses America on foot to uncover all the trees he doesn’t know. And when he realizes that what he loves most is threatened, he fights to save the trees and thus invents the foundations of political ecology. Thanks to him, parks have been created so that everyone can continue to walk in them.

In the same series: The man who wanted to do everything very, very well (Fridtjof Nansen) / The one who knew how to look after herself (Ada Blackjack) / The one who wasn’t afraid of the waves (Ida Lewis) / The one who wanted to climb to the top (Tenzin Norgay)
